The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) announced Tuesday that the vote results for the provincial council election have been released.
Noor Mohammad Noor, spokesman for the Independent Election commission of Afghanistan (IEC) said the preliminary vote results for provincial council election has been published on the IEC website - http://www.iec.org.af/results/fa/elections/get_prview_elected.
The vote results for provincial council election were released after three days of delay. The provincial council election was also organized on 5th April.
In the meantime, Noor said the reason behind the delay in announcing the provincial council election results was due to the uploading of the results in IEC website.
Around 2,713 candidates including 308 women contested in the provincial council election where 458 candidates including 96 women have been elected for the provincial council seats.
According to the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) officials, the provincial council candidates have been given 24 hours time to file their complaints against the preliminary vote results.
IECC spokesman, Nader Mohsini said the complaints for provincial council vote results will be reviewed during open sessions.
